Pro Infirmis Reflects on Perfection
There’s been a small push toward more realistic mannequins in recent years—assuming, that is, by “more realistic” we mean “slightly closer to average sizes.” Pro Infirmis has taken that trend further, however, using a window display on Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse to portray the sorts of bodies we never see represented in advertising or the media.
Prepared for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, “Because who is perfect? Get closer,” puts figures that portray disabilities in fashion windows next to the impossibly tall, idealized figures we’re used to seeing. It’s provocative, and the video showing off the campaign is well worth a watch. It’s been viewed nearly five million times this month, in fact.
