Old Navy Invites the Wrath of the Kardashians


A few months ago, we wrote about Old Navy’s newest ad campaign in Marketing Trendz. It’s a very cool concept: the ads link up with Shazam, a mobile application that can identify music. When the ad or its song is loaded up in Shazam, it leads shoppers to information about the campaign and Old Navy’s products. Very cool indeed.

And it’s been a huge success. The first ad from the campaign, Super C-U-T-E, has a couple million views online, and people seem to love it. And it’s just picked up a second wind… but not in a good way. According to TMZ, Kim Kardashian has launched a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Old Navy for using her likeness in the ad.

The appearance of a Kardashian look-alike in the ad might have slipped by, but apparently Old Navy has been actively promoting the comparisons online. Looks like Kardashian took the bait, so now we’ll have to wait and see how this one shakes out.
