Nokia makes a connection
Viral Marketing: Also known as Word of Mouth Advertising. Any strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others, thus creating the potential for exponential growth in the message’s exposure and influence. Just like viruses, such strategies take advantage of rapid multiplication to explode the message to thousands, even to millions.
Nokia UK has created a beautiful new site for their new E71 mobile model. It’s a bit of a slow load, but it’s worth the wait. The site explores the concept of “Beautiful Connections” – the conversations and connections we make every day, connections that could be facilitated by this new phone. A series of four uniquely artistic videos is available on the site currently, and to add a social media aspect, Nokia is seeking out submissions for a user-generated video contest.
While the brand association could be stronger, the videos will certainly generate interest in Nokia outside its usual audience. It’s a risk, but it might just be a good one.
