I’d Buy A Home From Them

“Kitschy” is probably not the first word you want associated with your mall’s television advertising. But for some small businesses in the US, kitschy is the new cool.

Comedy duo Rhett and Link are traveling around the US filming “local commercials” for businesses nominated by fans. The commercials capture the best and worst of low budget local TV ads: they’re loud, brash, painfully authentic and more than a little surreal. The companies chosen by the pair had best have good senses of humor, because the ads are anything but flattering. But they’re also viral gold: their newest is a week old, and already has well over a quarter of a million views.

The “I Love Local Commercials” scheme is sponsored by MicroBilt, a company that hopped on this particular viral trend at just the right moment.
