Bon-Ton Features Blue Shirts Against Bullying

Bullying is as serious as it is underestimated, but each year that passes brings with it growing awareness. This year, Bon-Ton hopes to use Back to School as a platform to bring the cause more attention at a very relevant time.

October 1, 2012 is Blue Shirt Day, the World Day of Bullying Prevention. It’s a day for children, families teachers and professionals to express their support for the cause. Bon Ton will be a big part of that year as the exclusive carrier of the 2012 limited edition STOMP Out Bullying blue shirts.

Brendan Hoffman, President and CEO of The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc., said, “All of us at the Bon-Ton stores want to make a difference in our children’s lives during this back-to-school season and what better way than to support ‘STOMP Out Bullying,’ a national organization focused on eradicating bullying in our schools and communities. Our hope is that parents, teachers and children will participate…and stand up to bullies everywhere.”

The shirts are only one part of the drive, albeit a big part that’s sure to raise a lot of funds for the cause. Bon-Ton is also launching a back-to-school social media campaign and sweepstakes. It encourages students the opportunity to share anti-bullying messages with their friends and peers, and will give seven lucky winners $250 shopping sprees and $1000 to donate to an anti-bullying program at a school of their choice. By entering, fans will be able to make a custom Facebook cover photo so all their friends will know exactly where they stand on bullying. For every banner created, the retailer will donate a dollar to the cause.
