Westroads Mall Builds Beautiful Habitats
Westroads Mall shoppers recently witnessed something great, a challenge taken on by top talent for a great cause. Teaming up with Omaha’s Habitat ReStore, the center tasked five of Omaha’s top designers to create a room using only materials donated to ReStore.
ReStore, if you don’t know, is a discount home improvement outlet that takes donations of new, used and surplus materials and sells them to the public at vastly discounted prices. Not only does this create an affordable way for people to improve their living situations, but the money earned goes to Habitat for Humanity to construct new and rehabilitated houses in the area.
Once the designers put their creativity to the test, the rooms were put on display in the shopping center. Shoppers were invited to vote for their favorite display via text message. The winner? D3 Interior’s dining display, pictured above.
Over the course of the competition, Westroads Mall managed to raise $1000 for Habitat for Humanity.
“We are so proud of our partnership with Habitat for Humanity as well as this first-of-its-kind program. Habitat brings so many people, from all walks of life, together and that sense of community was the best part of this project.” said Jim Sadler, senior general manager of Westroads Mall.
