Westfield’s Heart Beats for the Socceroos.

Westfield knows many of its Australian shoppers live and breathe for their football team, the Qantas Socceroos. So as the Socceroos prepare for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, Westfield has given shoppers at several of its malls the chance to put their hearts into supporting their team with the Pulse of the Nation.

Over the past week, thousands of shoppers have stopped at six participating Westfield centers to donate their heartbeats to the team. The shopping centers set up laptop stations with stethoscope microphones to collect the heartbeats. One hundred of the heartbeats were selected to be part of the Socceroos’ new theme song, currently being recorded by the British-Australia group Rogue Traders. As the Socceroos take to the field for their World Cup games, they’ll know the hearts of their nations are with them.

Shoppers could also end up saying adieu to the Socceroos at their farewell game, where the heartbeat theme will make its debut. One lucky entrant will take home two VIP tickets to the game, return airfare and a signed game ball.
