Watters Creek Cozies Up For Readers

620wattersWatters Creek is doing a great bit of good work for its shoppers and community. The center has recently announced two new programs that should make the center even more welcoming to its visitors.

The first (and closest to our hearts) opened last Friday. The Watters Creek Reading Nook is a cozy, outdoor shaded space that shoppers can take advantage of if they want to take a little break. It provides comfy seating with a lovely creekside view. Just as importantly, it has a lending library with an assortment of books and magazines for all ages. The books are provided by the nook’s sponsor, Allen Public Library, but shoppers can contribute their own by donating them to the nearby Frogg Coffee Bar & Creperie. If they do, they’ll enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee to go with the nook’s free Wi-Fi.

The second is for the sportier types: two acres of land located on the center’s south lot are being converted for the development of four practice soccer fields. It may not be a permanent arrangement, but FC Premier Soccer, a Dallas-Fort Worth area youth soccer organization, will have the training fields for daily practices starting in August until further commercial development occurs on the land.

“We are delighted to partner with the Allen Public Library and FC Premier and add these programs to our growing roster of free activities and community outreach initiatives,” said Cornell Holmes, General Manager of Watters Creek. “We will continue to seek other partnerships that grow our robust selection of free programming and make a positive impact in our community.”
