Valley View Shoppers Dance Their Way to Fitness
Getting in shape is one of the biggest New Year’s resolutions out there. It’s also one of the most commonly broken resolutions. Let’s face it—getting fit is hard, and if you need a resolution to get started you’re already fighting an uphill battle.
Valley View Center is doing what it can to help, though. The center teamed up with Zumba Rocks, a nearby gym (“Zumba” being a popular dance fitness program, for those not familiar), to bring shoppers into a perfect union between fitness and retail therapy. Hard to resist that combo, no?
On Saturday, the center held Rock-N-Shop. For three hours in the afternoon, shoppers could partake in some great high-energy exercise with the knowledge that their wallets would benefit too. For $10, shoppers could enjoy a one-hour Zumba class with four talented instructors and a live DJ. They could also enjoy free food, including gluten-free cupcakes. Then there was the smoothie shakeup, a taste test of over 20 different smoothies with a vote for the very best. It honestly sounds like the calorie intake from this event could have met or exceeded the output, but at least they were instructor-approved calories.
If shoppers wanted to burn even more of those calories afterward, participants got 10% off all participating retailers in the center for the rest of the day. There were also center gift cards given out every 30 minutes. Extra-resolved shoppers could enter the “Get in those Jeans 2013″ challenge for a shot at winning a year’s supply of designer jeans.
