Two Rivers Helps City Rebrand With Summer Festival

Up until a few days ago, Two Rivers Shopping Centre was found in Staines. Now, however, the city has rebranded itself Staines-upon-Thames, partially as a bid to distance itself from the ridicule heaped upon it by Sacha Baron Cohen when he dubbed it the downtrodden home of his character Ali G. But that wasn’t the city’s only goal: it also seeks to position itself as the pleasant riverside destination that it really is.

So now Two Rivers Shopping Centre is working with the city council on the first Staines-upon-Thames Summer Festival, and the stakes are pretty high. It sounds like the center has it under control, though, in its attempt to reaffirm the fantastic offering at Staines Upon Thames and to attract lots of visitors to the town.

The day-long festival will take place in August, and it will be filled with summer fun. The hosts are bringing in live music from local bands and DJs, dance performances, face painters and more. And there’s lots of fun to be had, like interactive zones with guitar lessons, digital graffiti, DJ decks, dance mats, and all manner of kid’s rides and activities.

What’s more, many of the shops in the town including those at Two Rivers will have fantastic offers on throughout the day and a Saturday street market will cap things off.

“The Summer Festival is set to be a fantastic event for everyone whether they are residents of the town or new visitors coming to see what we have to offer,” said Joanna Hall, centre manager at Two Rivers Shopping Centre. “It will be the first time that all of the town’s retailers and the council have worked together to put on such an event so we are hoping the day is a huge success so we can look forward to further joint events in the future.”
