‘Twas the Night Raises Funds for Flooded Calgarians
This year, the city of Calgary and much of the surrounding province were hit by major floods. 26 neighborhoods in the city were evacuated, businesses and schools were closed, and the Scotiabank Saddledome, home of the annual Calgary Stampede, was barely cleaned up in time for the event. It was a rough year for a lot of people in the city.
So for this year’s annual ‘Twas the Night holiday shopping event, the CORE is doing something to help make Christmas a little merrier for some families affected by the flooding. Not only is the center collecting donations for five local charities championing the revitalization of the city at the door, it’s also giving away $10,000 in center gift cards to 50 local families who need a little help post-flood. It’s working with radio station Country 105 to collect nominations.
Tonight’s event has plenty more to offer, too. The usual abundance of one-night-only exclusive deals, of course, and samples of delicacies from downtown restaurants. Free parking for the evening as well, and a celebrity-worthy red carpet with host Dan Levy.
Shoppers will also be enlightened with gift guidance from CORE stylists Brenna Hardy and Phaedra Godchild, and witness the lighting of the center’s spectacular 45-foot Christmas tree. Finally, Jan Arden and her three-piece band will give a one-of-a-kind performance.
