The Village at Meridian Opens its Doors

1113meridianThe Village at Meridian got off to a great start last month, with a three-day grand opening celebration.

The $300 million project boasts over 1 million square feet of entertainment, retail and commercial space. And then there’s the fountain: 67 animated jets, hundreds of computer-controlled LED lights and 30 feet of water. The fountain became central to the grand opening event, with choreographed lights and music.

“This fountain is the centerpiece of the entire Village at Meridian and we can’t wait to finally put it on display,” says Hugh Crawford, the center’s general manager. “We are lucky to have one of the country’s premier waterscape designers working to bring this incredible experience to Meridian.”

That was just one part of the weekend’s entertainment, though. The center also hosted concerts all weekend, with performers that included Party Crashers, Pilot Error, Imagine and Soul Patch. For the little ones, there was a well-stocked Kid Zone with the usual suspects like crafts, face painting and balloon art alongside the Village prize wheel and a super hero and princess meet and greet.

The luckiest shoppers of all were the first: 300 of them received complimentary swag bags. Five of those bags included Golden Ticket chocolate bars each worth a $500 shopping spree.
