The Rocks Builds a Windmill

418windmillAustralia’s The Rocks is taking a look back into Sydney’s history to help celebrate the city’s cultural heritage. It’s doing so with a four-story high windmill.

While windmills once dotted the Sydney landscape, it’s been some time since they were last in use. The Rocks Windmill not only examines that history, it also moves forward with engaging art programs and special events taking place both inside the windmill and out. Over the course of a month, the Windmill will be home to live music performances, film screenings, workshops and demonstrations of the mill’s inner workings, talks and seminars, kids’ activities and a lot more. There will even be a ‘wheat exchange’ that allows visitors to grind their own flour from grain.
