The Promenade Pep Rally Pumps Up Back-to-School

822pepBack-to-school shouldn’t be a time for dragging feet, it should be a time for excitement. A time for shopping!

The Promenade Shopping Centre is working to get shoppers pumped up for heading back to school this Saturday with its Promenade Pep Rally. That’s not just a fancy name for a big sale, mind: this event has everything a good pep rally should have—including cheerleaders.

The center is bringing in the Toronto Argonauts Cheerleaders to really get the crowd into the spirit of the season. At every Argonauts home game, they lead the cheers of thousands of fans with their choreography and dance routines, and they’re bringing the show to the Promenade for two performances.

And music—can’t forget the music. Choir! Choir! Choir! is led by local celebrities Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman, and they lead the group in original arrangements of popular music hits.

To make sure young shoppers know exactly what they’re getting into when they hit the halls this fall, blogger Lena Almeida of Listen to Lina will be on-hand to share her best back-to-school fashion tips.

It’s a plan for a pretty fun-filled day, but the center has one more idea up its sleeve to make a real difference: it’s invited Leave Out Violence (LOVE), an award-winning grassroots youth organization, to hold Anti-Bullying Workshops. Kids will be heading back to school this fall armed with the knowledge that they can make a difference when they or their friends are caught up in bullying situations.
