The Palms Goes Live for the Olympics
The Palms Shopping Centre, so recently recovered after the Christchurch earthquakes of the last couple years, was chosen as the city’s official Live Site of the London 2012 Olympic Games. It’s taking the responsibility to give shoppers and sports fans a home advantage for the celebrations very seriously.
That means four huge screens situated in the center with live and delayed coverage of the games. It means bean bags and comfortable fixtures for shoppers to relax with family and friends to take in the show. And it means lots of great fun.
The flames of Olympic spirit will be fanned with daily activities: rowing machine races, Xbox games and a few friendly, oversized boxing matches. Participating in the fun, or spending $50 at the center, will give shoppers a chance to win something from a huge pile of Olympic Team merchandise signed by the New Zealand Olympic Team.
The Olympic fun can’t be kept just within center walls, so the Palms is reaching out to local schools. Principals and sport coaches have been asked to nominate a passionate student athlete with Olympic potential to potentially win lunch with an Olympian.
