The Palms’ Car Park Transforms for Motocross
The Palms Shopping Centre put much of its outdoor car park to an interesting new use earlier this month: it was set up as a massive motocross arena.
The heart-pumping action included three demonstrations of top riders including Luke Smith, Matty Lewis, Callum Shaw, Joe McNaughton and Stacy Rush. The first demonstration was a simple introduction of the riders and their skills, the second stirred up some competition and the final was an all-out battle for motocross supremacy.
The center’s manager, Simon Carter, was immediately taken by the concept when approached by Dave Hunter. Hunter came up with the idea while sitting with a few fellow motocross riders at The Palms’ Fox & Ferret pub.
“This is the first time The Palms has had an event like this and as far as we know, the first time a shopping centre has put on a display like this,” said Carter. “The talent on offer is second to none and we can’t wait for the community to experience the thrills of an extreme motocross demonstration first hand.”
