The Light Shines for its 10th Birthday
The Light has been switched on for 10 years now, and it couldn’t be brighter.
To celebrate its big birthday, it held a great big bash. Visitors were treated to circus-style entertainment from stilt-walkers handing out party bags and an acrobatic aerial show. The event also featured live music from local X Factor contestant Carolynne Poole, who wowed the crowd with her amazing voice.
The Light also hit up its online friends and fans for a little birthday joy. It used radio and print ads to encourage shoppers to RSVP on Twitter, in exchange for a party goody bag. Over 120 people responded, earning bags that contained a selection of branded goods and give-aways. All told, the center picked up 363 new followers from the event, an excellent birthday haul.
The Light also held a private party for its key stakeholders in the evening at its hotel The Radisson Blu. Guests were treated to live music, cocktails and canapés, plus a raffle and casino tables that brought in funds for Wheatfield’s hospice.
