The Avenue Invests in Customer Service


1024csThe Avenue Shopping Centre is celebrating an exciting milestone: it’s the first in Scotland to earn WorldHost Destination status.

The center worked with WorldHost, a retail and hospitality customer service training programme, offering free training to all its retailers in the hopes of improving its overall customer service and further driving sales and footfall. The marker of status indicates that over a quarter of the center’s retailers have had half or more of their staff complete one of WorldHost’s training programs.

The Avenue has also been working with the National Skills Academy for Retail, raising customer service skills in employess to ensure that they can understand and respond to all customer needs.

All this effort has paid off. According to centre manager Michelle McCabe, “Retailers are telling us that their staff are more confident, skilled in sales and customer support, and that morale is much better. Over the coming months we are confident that the training will help to increase sales and footfall at the centre.

“The training has already created a feel-good factor which can be felt across the centre and is passed on to our customers. WorldHost makes good business sense – staff feel that they are being invested in and therefore want to give something back.”

The program’s success so far is just the beginning for the Avenue. McCabe plans to roll the programs out to even more businesses at the center to give both the Avenue and its retailers a true cutting-edge advantage over the competition.
