Target Plans to Improve 42 School Libraries This Year

Each year since 2007, Target has dedicated itself to giving American schools better libraries. To date, the retailer has given 77 schools the complete Target School Library Makeover, and many more have seen smaller upgrades.

This year, Target plans to bring its Library Makeover to an additional 42 schools. These makeovers will transform the libraries from top to bottom, leveraging Target’s world-class design and construction expertise. These will be complete renovations, that include light construction, eco-friendly design and new technology.

“In order to give our students a competitive advantage and ensure our country remains globally competitive, it is critical for us to invest in education,” said Congressman Kline, Chairman of the Education and the Workforce Committee. “By funding programs that promote reading, Target is doing its part to build a foundation for students and give them the tools to prepare them for college, a career and life.”

This program is just one facet of Target’s dedication to literacy and education in America. The retailer also takes part in Read Across America, and has pioneered the Meals for Minds program that ensures children have the nourishment they need to learn and thrive.
