Support Walk

0806grief.gifMall walks are happening just about everywhere, these days. Seniors groups and Stroller fitness groups are two of the most common sorts, and you’ll find at least one of them at most North American malls.

But there are also lesser known mall walks – like the St. Francis Hospice Walk in the Mall. To celebrate its tenth year, the program is expanding to a third Hawaiian mall: Windward Mall. It’s also offered at Pearlridge Center and Kahala Mall.

The walk offers more than fitness and the safety of indoors. The program is open to grievers of patients who have died at St. Francis Hospice, as well as anyone else who is dealing with loss. It gives the walkers a chance to meet with other survivors, share their grief, and enjoy the benefits of physical exercise. The monthly gatherings start with introductions, then lead into a mall walk and grief activity. They’re offered as part of St. Francis’s bereavement programs.
