Style Pasifika Shows New Zealand’s Top Fashion
Westfield is now taking entries for one of New Zealand’s biggest fashion events: Westfield Style Pasifika. It’s a fashion show held each year in September, and it brings New Zealanders the best and most iconic fashion of the country, showing off the raw and indigenous nature of New Zealand haute couture.
The show accepts designers of all ages and backgrounds. Designers can enter their own pieces under a variety of categories, including Traditionally Inspired, Asia Pasifika (a fusion of Asian and Oceanic influences), 3 Piece Collection, Pasifika hero (which celebrates the designs of the NZ gay community), street wear, men’s wear, evening wear, bridal, and parent with child. The final categories doesn’t require clothing design at all – it’s Body Art, and the designers in the category will work with a model to create a living work of art with body paint.
The show will be made up of finalists selected in August, and it will air live in September. The entertainment at the show reflects the eclectic and multicultural nature of the fashion, with everything from church choirs to fire dancers on hand to keep the evening going strong.
