Strand Arcade’s Evening with Designers
Last week, Strand Arcade hosted its annual Evening With Our Designers, an exclusive fashion and shopping night with some of Australia’s hottest designers.
The free event was invitation-only, but fashion lovers had several opportunities to snag an invitation. Not only did the center give away pairs of tickets to the first 250 people to email about the event, it also gave fashion retailers sets of tickets to distribute through online contests and giveaways.
The evening was, by all account, an amazing night of fashion indulgence. Two fashion shows featured designs by Akira, Alex Perry, Alannah Hill, Jayson Brunsdon, and more. The(sydney)magazine held a styling workshop featuring top designers. And many of the designers were on-hand to meet and greet fashionistas, including Sarah-Jane Clarke of sass & bide, Terry Biviano, Wayne Cooper, Jayson Brunsdon, Leona Edmiston, Lisa Ho, Fleur Wood, Louise Olsen of Dinosaur Designs, Victoria Buckley, Joe Farage, Manuela Zappacosta of Zappacosta Jewels, Sue Vanikiotis of Anaessia, Giovanni D’Ercole of Love & Hatred and Kylie Radford of Morrison – a laundry list of some of the big names in Australian fashion.
The culinary delights sound fantastic as well. The evening’s signatures were Chambord French Martinis and Chambord Lime & Soda. Tapas and tasty treats were also brought out, including arancini balls and mini carrot cakes topped with honeycomb. Decadent, no?
Over the course of the evening, the center’s fashionable retailers offered special giveaways and contests. The biggest competition was from Strand Arcade — shoppers who spent $150 or more at one of the center’s retailers could enter to win the ultimate Hong Kong vacation, including two upper-class tickets, $2,000 towards accommodation $3,000 to spend on a shopping adventure.
