St. David’s Summer of Stories

725storiesSt. David’s and Capitol Shopping Centre in Cardiff will be host to a few very special storytimes this summer, as SOHO Coffee Co. plans to raise money for the Leukaemia and Intensive Chemotherapy Fund (LINC) with SOHO Summer of Stories.

On Tuesday mornings throughout August the retailer will host free story time events. SOHO Summer of Stories will feature four books: Don’t Wake the Bear, Hare by Steve Smallman; Mrs MacCready Was Ever So Greedy by Julie Fulton; The Gruffalo by Julia Donaldson; and Albie The Adventurer by Grace Todd.

While staff from the cafe will lead most of the stories, August 27 will be special: Grace Todd will come to the center to read her story personally and sign books for little ones.

After the readings, kids can participate in book-themed crafts. Parents are encouraged to come along and enjoy a cup of coffee for the duration. Bottles of water and mini ‘SOHO Joe’ gingerbread men are given to the younger crowd.

The events are free, but shoppers are welcome to provide a donation to LINC.

“I’m bowled over that what started as a seed of an idea for fundraising for LINC, has had such great support from these authors. It’s no coincidence that they are my daughter’s favourite books.” comments Gill Bream, Marketing Manager for SOHO Coffee Co. “SOHO’s family-friendly stores and our animated staff mean that we’re well placed to run these kinds of events. We believe that they will be a welcome attraction for parents while playgroups and schools are closed for the summer and hope that we can raise a lot of money and awareness for LINC.”
