718burnieSouthland Mall takes its children’s entertainment seriously. The center is holding its annual Kids Week program next week, and it looks like it’s going to be huge.

The festivities kick off on Monday, with an interactive program from Miami Children’s Museum. It’s based on the museum’s brand new Dino Island exhibit, a 2,500 square foot Jurassic environment that is home to eleven lifelike robotic creatures, including a Tyrannosaurus Rex, Apatosaurus, Triceratops mother and baby, and Maiasaura family.

For the sportier kids, Monday also features a visit from the come and take your picture with the Miami HEAT NBA Championship Trophy—always nice when the hometeam wins. Later in the week, kids will have the chance to participate in a game show trivia contest, enjoy “The Pied Piper of Percussion” Steve Gryb’sinteractive, high-energy show with music, prizes, and percussion exhibit, and a sing-along with Dora.

Thursday evening features a wing-eating contest after a visit from the Miami Marlins Street Team. And Saturday is the kicker, a Grand Finale featuring Superstar Productions and Zoo Miami. Shoppers will also be able to win the week’s draw for a $500 gift card.

“Southland is excited to present its fourth annual ‘Kids Week’ event,” said Maggie Anzardo, marketing director at Southland Mall. “This family friendly event has become one of two signature events at the center and is held every summer at Southland.”
