SOMETHING FOR THE LADIES
Portage Place in Manitoba, Canada offers its visitors a great selection of entertainment options. With a movie theatre, an IMAX theatre, and a professional live theatre on site, theatre-going traffic keeps things busy in the evening hours.
This month, Portage Place and the Colin Jackson Studio Theatre host Femfest 2008, an annual festival of plays by women. This year’s festival features Ripple Effect, a performance that explores the effects of violence against youth, both at school and in the home, and Sabina’s Splendid Brain, a biographical play about Sabina Spielrein, one of the first female psychoanalysts, and patient and lover of Carl Jung.
With award winning plays, cabaret evenings, and performance installations, Femfest is part of a fantastic cultural partnership, and it’s sure to be a great draw for Portage Place this fall.
