Shopping Center Sports: Wii Games 2010
Shoppers who want a little summer activity but don’t want to leave the mall (and who would, in the heat of summer?) will find what they’re looking for at 16 US shopping centers this season. Wii Games: Summer 2010 might not be the sporting event of the year in an Olympic and World Cup era, but it sure sounds like a lot of fun.
Starting July 16th, the tournament will kick off at Liberty State Park in New Jersey, and it will hit most of the country as it visits shopping centers and amusement parks. The events will be focused on five activities: Basketball, Bowling and Hula Hoop using the game system’s motion controls, platform gaming with New Super Mario Brothers, and on-screen kart racing. Winners from the tournaments at the participating shopping centers, including Arrowhead Towne Center, will travel to Los Angeles for the national championships.
There are prizes to be won along the way, and for shoppers who don’t compete, Wii demo stations will be available. Olympic gold medalist and Dancing with the Stars champion Shawn Johnson is the tournament’s ambassador, and she’ll appear at several of the events.
