Shop and Tell at Westfield Valley Fair

Westfield Valley Fair has embraced the haul video with its new Shop and Tell campaign.

Rather than subsidize hauls and risk being shunned as corporate intruders, Westfield Valley Fair is letting teens do their own thing and is rewarding them for doing it. The shopping center has asked teens to try making their own haul videos. The shopping center only has a few requirements: The haul must come at least partially from retailers at Westfield Valley Fair, the video blogger must be 13 or older, and the video must be posted to YouTube. Once it’s online, entrants can email the link and contact information to the shopping center.

The best of the Westfield Valley Fair hauls will get posted on the center’s website and to its Facebook group for fans and followers to vote on. The creator of the video with the most votes will win a $500 shopping spree at XXI Forever. With the taste of fame they’ll have already had, we wouldn’t be surprised if the winner turns that into a brand new haul.

In case shoppers aren’t familiar with the trend, Westfield Valley Fair has been linking to popular haul blogs and showing off haul videos for inspiration. Since haul videos are community-engaging free advertising for retailers and malls alike, nurturing the trend just seems pragmatic.
