Sherway Gardens Looks Back
When your center is known for providing a venue for artists and creators to exhibit their work all year round, who could blame you for commandeering it for a little “me time” on its 40th birthday?
That’s how Sherway Gardens will celebrate its big 4-0. Gallery in the Garden normally shows off the works of local artists for six week exhibitions, but it’s taking a break from that this month for the Gallery in the Garden Retrospective Exhibit. The exhibition illustrates, through photos and archival newspaper clippings, the history of the center since its grand opening in 1971.
Shoppers will be able to see how their center has grown and changed over the decades, with new wings and renovations. Mad Men fans will also have a chance to check out of samples of Sherway Gardens’ award-winning advertising campaigns and fashion ads going back to the 70s. It’s a little bit of history from a place much closer to shopper’s hearts than Madison Avenue.
