Protect Pets
By positioning themselves as a safe location for trick-or-treating, malls have benefited greatly from Halloween in recent years. But Santana Row in California, USA, is helping pet owners understand that while shopping centre events may keep their children safe and warm on Halloween, extra precautions are needed for their pets.
Every month from May through October, the shopping centre co-hosts “Paws in the Park” with the Humane Society Silicon Valley. These events offer pets, and their masters, an opportunity to come to the park for a day filled with fun activities and information about pet ownership.
This week, to close out the year’s events, Paws in the Park will be celebrating Dogtoberfest. There will be treats on hand for both pets and people, as well as Sausage Bobbing for the canines and a Dancing Dog contest for the more coordinated pets and owners. Along with the festivities, pet owners will learn about pet safety for Halloween, a holiday filled with doggy dangers. Chocolate, candy wrappers, fireworks and rowdy youths are just a few of the things pet owners need to look out for, and Santana Row is helping to make sure the whole family has a safe, happy Halloween.
