Casuarina Square is giving young artists the opportunity to “paint the square” with a new contest.
The Australian shopping center has given away square canvases and painting tools to 50 teenaged artists. To enter, the teens needed only to offer up the theme of their planned works, and discuss the personal relevance. The teens have one month to complete the paintings. The top ten paintings will be displayed in the shopping centre for a week before the four winners are chosen. The winners will each win a $1000 GPT gift card, and their paintings will continue to be displayed in the mall.
By providing materials to the entrants, Casuarina Square ensures the contest is accessable to its young shoppers no matter their socioeconomic status. I think that’s a really nice touch.
