Park Royal Celebrates the Final Weeks of Winter
February is a short month, but as the last grasp of winter clutches at the west coast of Canada, it can feel longer than necessary. So a good party that lights up the night is more than welcome.
Excellent timing for Park Royal Shopping Centre to sponsor and co-host the Columba Light Festival. The festival marks the arrival of the Columba constellation in the West Vancouver night sky, and celebrates the winter season, peace, unity and togetherness.
It’s a two-day festival that starts with a big bash. This Friday evening, several thousand people plan to visit a small local park to take in the Phoenix Rising fire show, a community dance showcase, and sets from two popular Canadian indie rock bands. Saturday follows up with free ice-skating, jazz performances, a drum cafe event with audience participation, and Eagle Song Dancers.
If it inspires parties like this, maybe winter isn’t so bad after all.
