Oshawa Centre Rocks the Tag
Have you used the Tag?
Tactics Magazine discussed the Microsoft Tag!® in its recent Technology Issue – you can find more details there, but in short, the Tag is a QR or barcode-style image that’s showing up on marketing materials all over. It can be scanned with apps that are available on most smart phone platforms, and it links to custom web content.
Oshawa Centre, an early Canadian adopter of the Tag, rocked its local college and university student population with a high energy back-to-school Tag campaign. The Rock This Tag event was held on three local campuses during Orientation Week. The shopping center’s guerrilla team and dance crew distributed over 3,000 free grey “Tag!” bearing a custom Smart Tag!®. The Tag was also printed on campus signage and magnets that were distributed in Orientation week kits. When scanned, the codes took students to the center’s Rock This Tag website, which included Campusfest photos, contests and more. This center plans to regularly update the site with retailer specials, promotions and info of interest to students.
Students who wore their free tee and participated in Oshawa Centre’s on-campus video contest also received a ‘Scratch to Win’ card with a high chance of winning an Oshawa Centre gift card up to $100 in value. Student videos were posted on the campaign website, where the public is voting on the top three videos. The creator of the top video will win a $500 shopping spree, and the second and third place winners will get $250 each.
