Metropolis Honors its Fans
It’s always nice to be liked. Even nicer? Making sure your shoppers have good reasons to like you.
Metropolis at Metrotown recently hit a major milestone on its Facebook page: 35,000 Likes. The center’s marketers wanted to give a little something back for all that love, so they hosted the center’s very first “Facebook Fan Appreciation” Party.
Metropolis put out the call on its Facebook page, and a few hundred shoppers answered. They gathered at Grand Court for swag bags, prizes, snacks, a live DJ and a photobooth. To make sure participants were really deserving fans and not just opportunists, the event was kept exclusive to those that new the secret password posted to the center’s Facebook page.
The page was peppered with hints during the weeks that led up to the milestone, ensuring that fans would be paying attention for an announcement when it hit.
Retailers were able to engage a number of ways including products or bounceback coupons in the swag bags, offering samples or services during the event, and door prizes awarded throughout the evening. Over 20 retailers participated and were thanked on Facebook with tags to their Facebook page.
