Metropolis at Metrotown Asks Shoppers to Get Cozy

This holiday season, Metropolis at Metrotown is encouraging shoppers to come down and find what they love, pushing its wide range of retailers as its positioning.

The shopping center recently had its shoppers tell their friends all about its Find What You Love campaign with a clever online contest. Stuff the Beetle plays off the “clown car” concept of mashing as many people as possible into one undersized vehicle. To enter, shoppers had to find ten friends on Facebook to bring into their virtual Beetle, promoting the center with each one recruited. For each ten friends, they received another entry.

Of course, squeezing into a crowded car isn’t quite the same when you’re doing it virtually. So later this month, the center is picking some of the Facebook teams to come down to try it in real life. Up to nine qualifiers with teams of at least ten friends will come into the center and try to fit into a real Volkswagen Beetle that’s been all dressed up with campaign colours.

The team that can fit the most people into the Beetle will win the grand prize — $5000 in Metropolis at Metrotown gift cards, and a $5000 donation to the charity of their choice.

Shoppers who don’t get the chance to play live can also enter to win the Beetle itself.
