Melbourne Central Lights Up the Night
Melbourne Central is going to keep the lights going all night long for Melbournians on February 22. The White Night festival is all about transforming the city’s streets for an all-night celebration, and the retail precinct has the perfect plan.
The centerpiece of Melbourne Central’s contribution is the I Heart Melbourne light show. It’s created around the ideology of the city’s distinctive heart beat, with pulses of light beaming through the skyline and simulating a powerful beating heart. It will light up the center’s iconic 20-storey high Kisho Kurokawa cone and its Shot Tower attraction throughout the night.
Many retailers and dining establishments will remain open throughout the night, and buskers will keep them entertained. For shoppers that want a chance to rest and relax, Hoyts will feature a serious of creative short films curated by long-running short film showcase Red Hot Shorts—and the seating arrangements are deluxe beanbags.
