Mega Mall Puzzles Out Autism

Mega Mall has just wrapped up a campaign for a great cause. The name is a mouthful, but you’ll no doubt agree it’s effective: “Autism is not a Puzzle, it’s a Challenge – Help us Help them.” Really gets the point across, no?

From April 15 to June 15, the center held this autism awareness campaign with a series of weekend educational programs. It put them together in collaboration with Sharjah City for Humanitarian Services and Sharjah Autism Centre. The goal was to raise public awareness and foster best practices for helping children with autism.

The campaign featured theatrical shows, storytelling sessions, competitions and prizes, all carefully created around furthering its goals. There were also open question and answer events for experts to help the public better understand autism.

For every Dhs200 spent at Mega Mall, it donated Dhs5 will be donated to Sharjah Centre for Autism. Shoppers who brought in their receipts were entered to win a grand prize of Dhs 100,000 in one of two draws.

Mona Bagh, General manager of Sharjah Autism Centre, said, “Mega Mall, in its capacity as one of city’s most popular shopping centres, has always shown great responsibility towards the people of Sharjah and this awareness campaign targets all categories of the community.” He added that the keen interest shown by the management of Mega Mall in organising the campaign for a period of two months has already contributed significantly in raising awareness about autism.
