Meadows Chelmsford Preps for the Commonwealth Games
The 2010 Commonwealth Games are just over a month away, and earlier this month, Meadows Chelmsford got shoppers moving in preparation.
The fun and games kicked off on August 7th. The first event was a cycling challenge organized by the Chelmsford Fitness First team. Stationary bikes were set up in the center so shoppers could cycle the distance to Delhi (the host of this year’s games) in anticipation. The first mile of the cycling challenge was completed by a Commonwealth gold medalist hopeful, 16 year old Zoe Smith.
A soft-play area was opened up for youngsters to enjoy activities led by sports-crazy children’s entertainer Nicky-Nacky Noo-Noo and Lazy Town’s Sportacus. And Wii Pods were set up throughout the center for shoppers who prefer lower-impact action.
This weekend, in keeping with the sporty theme, shoppers will have the chance to try out webracing, the latest in fitness technology. Demo machines will be set up that allow shoppers to try biking, rowing and cross training while a virtual avatar on an attached screen competes in the Olympics, travels scenic mountain routes or explores the moon.
