Mall of America’s Parking for Twitter Followers
Holiday parking can be a nightmare for both shoppers and centers, with the ever-present risk of shoppers giving up and turning away. So you can be sure your shoppers will appreciate anything that makes the parking situation just a little easier.
Mall of America used that opportunity to get themselves some very loyal Twitter followers this past weekend. On Super Saturday, one of the craziest shopping days of the year, the center reserved some of its prime parking spots for Twitter followers only, calling it their “Big Secret Parking Party” and promoting it with the Twitter hashtag #BSPP It’s not quite as simple as it sounds, unfortunately (followers had to reserve the free parking through an online ticketing system), but it’s still quite a way to make a new friend.
The center has also undertaken several other social media promotions for the holidays, which are covered (along with more detail on the parking promotion) in this article on Clickz.com. But one more nice touch? MoA has been tweeting the status of its parking lots throughout the holidays, so local shoppers can snag good spots during downtime.
