Love of Art
Hyde Park Shopping Centre in Johannesburg, ZA just completed a week-long art festival. The event, organized by the Rotary Club of Rosebank, brought together over 160 works by 34 artists, including internationally known portrait painter Kerry Evans. Evans donated a portrait from her travels in India, ‘Shopkeeper Pethuparai,’ which is valued at approximately 8000 USD. The portrait was raffled off during the festival. The event also featured mouth painters Elsie Fouchie and Rudy Lombard, and many contemporary South African artists.
Proceeds from the event go to five ongoing causes selected by the Rotary Club, including training courses and education for youth, and The Angels Project, which educates, feeds and supports AIDS orphans in Alexandra.
