Lakeside Stocks Up On Peace of Mind
As much as we may wish it could be, Christmas isn’t all good. Take theft: how many stories do you know about shoppers who had their entire holiday stolen from the back of their car?
Lakeside Shopping Centre is taking proactive steps to help offset any increase in Christmas-crushing crime with Operation Christmas Presence. That’s “presence,” as in “police presence.” Like any, the center wants to keep its shoppers safe. It also wants them to know it.
Officers from the local police team have joined forces with center security to increase patrols of the center and its car parks. There is reassurance to be had in knowing someone has your back, after all.
Shoppers also have the chance to improve their own safety awareness, as patrolling officers offer advice on staying secure.
“Every day we work in close partnership with Lakeside, so it is only natural we step this up at the busiest time of year,” said Sergeant Chris Hay, who leads the policing team. “Lakeside is and always has been a safe place to shop, and with the additional police resources in place through Operation Christmas Presence, we can not only reassure shoppers of this safety, but also send out a robust message to criminals that they are not welcome here.”
