Knox Shopping Centre Asks Women to Take Ten for Ten

Knox Shopping Centre wants shoppers, particularly women, to take care of their hearts. Heart disease kills nearly four times as many women as breast cancer, and it’s rarely discussed. That’s why the center the Heart Foundation’s Go Red for Women campaign, to change a statistic that destroys lives and families every day.

This year, the concept is Ten for Ten: the center is asking women to take ten seconds to pledge to make the changes that could give them ten more years of life. The campaign makes heart disease statistics relevant to all women by highlighting the consequences that denial and complacency can have on themselves and their families.

It’s not just about making a promise, though—it’s about a shared goal. Photos of pledgers will be uploaded to the Go Red for Women Facebook page, and pledgers will be encouraged to find, tag and share their pledge with their friends. This will not only bring other women to the cause, it will help create a shared commitment to change.

Goodie bags will be on hand at each Ten for Ten event; they’ll be given to any woman who donates at least $10 to the cause.

The center has a few other plans on the go to raise money for Go Red For Women, including a by-donation mall walk and breakfast gathering, a fundraiser through the rentals of its Kiddie Karts and a promise to donate $1 for each new Facebook Like in the month of June.
