Industry Education
The Potteries Shopping Centre is working with The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award to help youth learn about the retail industry.
The goal is to help young people learn about shopping center management, and show them first hand the running of a multi-million pound business operates.
The shopping centre’s management team has come up with 13 hands-on, hour long weekly sessions. The sessions will teach students about the many aspects of running a shopping center, like security, cleaning, technical services, operations, marketing and customer service. They will be able to go behind-the-scenes in the shopping center.
The youngsters will be working toward Bronze or Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards, and this program at The Potteries will help them on their way. This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a program designed to get young people interested in the shopping center industry, but it’s something we’d like to see more of. Young talent is always worth supporting.
