Hurley Hits the Beach
Clothing retailer Hurley is preparing to make a splash next month with the 2014 Hurley Australian Open of Surfing, and it’s just announced that it’s bringing two of the most exciting international surfers along: John John Florence and Carissa Moore.
Surfing alongside them will be Australian athletes Julian Wilson, Adrian Buchan and Mitch Crews.
“We are excited to be heading back to Manly beach for the Hurley Australian Open of Surfing. The community and fans embraced the event in 2012 and with expectations of 200,000+ visiting the event over the nine days in February, and the announcement last week of Birds of Tokyo and The Presets headlining the music line up, plus now some of our big name internationals joining us, it’s going to be great,” said Jason Haynes, Hurley Australia General Manager.
And just in case you were wondering, this is most definitely a retail event. The company has commissioned nine local artists to create limited edition t-shirts. With the help of the brand new Hurley Printing Press, the artists will be printing custom t-shirts live for attendees, with a new artist featured each day.
The retailer will also be raising awareness for its Hurley H2O program, which brings safe, clean drinking waters to countries that need it.
“The inaugural Australian Open of Surfing saw more than 6,500 litres of water dispensed as part of our H20 hydration station. And more than 3,500 H2O drink bottles sold to raise money to help us bring fresh water to third world countries,” added Haynes.
