Hillsdale Gets a Bit Footloose
When the folks at Hillsdale Shopping Center snagged a promotional visit from the stars of the upcoming Footloose remake, they probably felt pretty lucky. Julienne Hough and Kenny Wormald’s personal appearance brought in hundreds of fans who gathered to await the Q&A session and autographs.
But one special fan got an extra thrill. The day before the appearance, Christine Kupczak, the center’s marketing director, got a call from the Make a Wish Foundation. A 15-year-old girl named Clarissa had a wish: a shopping spree at Hillsdale. She also just so happened to love singing and dancing.
So to help make this girl’s dreams come true, Kupczak got in touch with the Footloose promoters who were arranging the visit and set up a private meet and greet with between Clarissa and the stars of the film. The three of them had a fantastic time, and Hough posted photos with Clarissa to her Facebook page.
According to the center, the appearance resulted in over $10,000 in free media coverage. I’m also going to go ahead and guess that it resulted in a lot of good karma, and a happy surprise for one young girl.
