Halifax Shopping Centre Puts a Bow on Black Friday

Halifax Shopping Centre is one of a number of Canadian centers trying to combat cross-border shopping this week. It’s getting dolled up for the Big Black Bow Event.

The event goes throughout the weekend’s extended shopping hours, with tiered deals from most of its retailers. Black Bow offers are 25% off or more, and tons of retailers are on board. Each day also brings with it a delightful assortment of special treats. Fashion Friday, for instance, has mini-makeovers, fashionable prizes from retailers like Sephora and Apple, live entertainment, and gourmet chocolate and wine tastings. Yum.

Santa Saturday marks the arrival of the big guy in red, with super secret special guests, a visit from the Fairy of Warmth (who is giving away an autographed book in exchange for a $5 donation to Operation Winter Warmth), bonuses on gift card purchases and the occasional lucky elf giveaway of free center gift cards.

Soothing Sunday aims to attract gentlemen shoppers by making things just a little more relaxed. The deals are still going, now accompanied by the smooth sounds of jazz. Shopping experts will rove the halls giving away the HSC Holiday Pinterest Gift Guide and offering tips to overwhelmed shoppers. Best of all, the center will have a Men’s Den set up with a big-screen TV, Garrison ale and gift-wrapping in support of that great men’s cause, Movember.

The center’s Facebook fans are signing up for a chance to win some serious VIP treatment for the big shopping weekend, including a $1000 gift card, hotel, limo service and a personal shopper.
