Gunwharf Quays’ White Christmas
Gunwharf Quays wanted to do a little something extra to celebrate the holidays this year – something to bring cheer to shoppers who might be having a tougher year than most years. With that in mind, it put together Snowfest 2009, an event that’s sure to bring in the whole family.
At the heart of the event is an impressive 65ft snow-slide, the UK’s longest ever outdoor real-snow slide. Fake snow just wouldn’t cut it for this Christmas. But to keep the environmental impact low, the UK shopping center sought out machinery from Austria to create real snow on-site.
The snow also goes to setting up the Snowfest Snow Garden, where kids can enjoy building snowmen and playing in real fresh snow.
This weekend, Gunwharf Quays used the Snow Garden to hold a snowman building competition. Art students and alumni from Portsmouth University spent the hour before the shopping center’s opening building their best snowmen to compete for a Gunwharf Quays gift card.
