Greenhills Sessionistas Featured in Exhibit
Greenhills Shopping Center has been hosting its Sessionistas band competition for years, building up a history of important music moments that people might not expect from a shopping center. This month, however, the center is being highlighted for its part in musical culture as popular photojournalist Niña Sandejas features its music events in a solo photo exhibit.
The exhibit is called Ang Inyong Awitin. As Sandejas explains to Yahoo Celebrity, the name is a play on Juan de la Cruz Band’s song “Ang Himig Natin.” Members of Juan Dela Cruz feature in the show, alongside many of the talented and well-known musicians that have graced the stage at Greenhills and its sister center, Tiendesitas.
Speaking about the centers with Yahoo, Sandejas explained, “It seems that both places are still thought of strictly as shopping centers. We don’t normally associate Tiendesitas and Greenhills as venues for music.
To highlight the music events that have been happening in Tiendesitas, I’ve been asked to mount an exhibit called “Ang Inyong Awitin.”
“The photos span eight years, the earliest being in 2006 and the latest taken just early this year. They’ve been processed by FANS Digital Philippines in 20×30-inch prints.”
