Back to the Glitz?
Last week, after nearly a decade of planning and building, St. David’s 2 opened in Cardiff. It’s been a while since we’ve seen evidence of a glitzy grand opening in the areas hit hard by the economic crisis, but this could be a sign of good days to come.
Leading up to the opening, the crowd was warmed up by beatbox performer Bellatrix. 10,000 keys were handed out during the celebration, of which 30 would open lockboxes in the mall containing designer prizes.
When the countdown to the opening ended, white- and orange-clad dancers led the crowds literally running into the new shopping center. Inside, jugglers, buskers, sumo wrestlers, models and performers dazzled them all.
Sounds just like the old days.
