General Growth Properties has a solution. This month, its centers are holding January Jingle, a gift card promotion. Shoppers can bring in a spent Shop Etc. gift card, affix a registration label with all their details, and enter to win $3000 in fresh new cards.
It’s a simple promotion, but it puts a concrete value on spending gift cards now rather than later. Which means getting them back into the mall and spending. And it keeps those empty gift cards out of the landfill. Everyone wins.
