Flinging Birds at Fisketorvet Shopping Center
If you own a smartphone or know someone who does, chances are you’ve heard of Angry Birds. It would be hard not to – the mobile game has sold millions upon millions of copies, has been ported to multiple platforms and has entered into merchandising deals and even cross promotional deals with Hollywood movies.
It’s a global phenomenon that shows no signs of stopping. This month, several Danish malls are working with Nokia to bring their shoppers the ultimate opportunity to show off their bird-flinging, pig-crushing skills: Angry Birds DM 11, a tournament for top players. After topping the preliminaries, the top two players from each shopping center will be invited to the finals at Fisketorvet Shopping Center. They’ll face off against each other, along with the top four national players and two “wild card” entrants. They’ll be competing for top scores on multiple attempts of certain levels, and the top scorers win.
Aside from appearing in the national finals, players will be well rewarded with Angry Birds plush toys, Nokia products and new smartphones. The first hundred players at each location will also get Angry Birds-related prizes, as will the winners of each of the preliminary events.
